Wave House San Diego August Gig Recap

Shane Berry, Wave House San Diego's man with a plan when it comes to music, has taken a moment out of organising, attending and recovering from a bunch of gigs to do a quick recap of the last month. Keep an eye out for upcoming shows - click here.

Tea Leaf Green

Our Fan Appreciation show for the 2009 concert series. This was a free show to say thank you to the community for supporting us. Tea Leaf Green played last year with Hot Buttered Rum and it was great to have them back in the house. We got great feedback from the guests who couldn't believe that a venue was doing the show for free. The band did two sets and kept the party going until midnight. We even had guests hugging security on the way out and thanking everyone involved for the experience!

Blue October

Our day started with a sneak peak listener's party for Sophie 103.7. A handful of lucky guests got to have a private sound check with the band. The crowd got here early and had some of the most dedicated fans we've seen to date. We handed out some promo posters and they went mad for them! The band and crew were very accommodating. We tried to get the crew to ride the wave but they were so busy working that they missed the last session. They promise to ride next time they come back.

The opening band Longwave was amazing. Kind of reminded me of early U2 with some Radiohead mixed in. Super cool guys and very humble. Blue October had an amazing back drop and their performance really had a huge emotional impact on the crowd. Not a dry eye in the house. Everyone left happy from the staff, to the bands, to the fans.

Beres Hammond

My favorite show of the year. The man is a living legend. Tribe of Kings opened the show laying down lover's rock vibes. The support act was Culture with Kenyatta Hill singing lead vocals for his late father. It was emotional to say the least. Beres took the stage and wooed the crowd with his charming personality and the smooth vocal styling he is known for. Everyone in the crowd was singing along to every song. Such a cool mellow vibe to this show. The band and crew from Steel Pulse showed up to support Beres as well.

That's why we love this show so much. It's a family vibe and that's what we're all about.
