The Biggest Flowriding Event Returns To Sentosa!
Each year, the best riders from each Wave House location compete both as individuals and as representatives of their respective venue. Each Wave House holds qualifying competitions earlier in the year to select three standup riders and a bodyboarder, thereby selecting their team to compete in the competition. In 2009, a Wild Card Team was selected from the winners of the US FLOW Tour to compete as a fifth team against the Wave House venue teams. In 2010, the World FlowRider Championships will determine the fifth team and will bring flowriders from across the world, not just Wave Houses, to this international competition. The World FlowRiding Championships will precede the International Championships and will occur on October 28, 2010, also at Wave House Sentosa.
The International FLOW Championship Qualifiers take place at each Wave House and include separate competitions on both the FlowRider® and the FlowBarrel® (strapped and strapless for flowboarding and prone and drop knee for bodyboarding). The resulting team to compete consists of two male flowboarders, one female flowboarder and one bodyboarder.
All riders compete on both the FlowRider and the FlowBarrel. The initial stages send all competitors -men, ladies and bodyboarders- to battle it out on the FlowRider. The second competition takes place on the FlowBarrel with mens strapless, ladies strapless and prone bodyboarding. Finally, the third phase of competition sends riders to the FlowBarrel and features mens strapped, ladies strapped and drop knee bodyboarding.
