Singapore Qualifiers to be Held in Conjunction with Asian Flow Series at Wave House Sentosa

On September 3rd, 2011, expert riders from Singapore and regional venues will be battling for the opportunity to compete at the FLOW Championships 2011 in Durban, South Africa. The Singapore Qualifiers will be held in conjunction with the Billabong Asian FLOW Series presented by Sony Ericsson. After hosting the International FLOW Championships for two consecutive years in 2009 and 2010, Wave House Sentosa will now play host to battles of epic proportions on the FlowRider ® and FlowBarrel ® as the number of expert riders in the region continues to grow.

Said Terry Goh, General Manager of Wave House Sentosa, “With Wave House Durban holding this year’s FLOW Championships, we have devoted our efforts grooming not just local riders but regional flowridering too. We are poised to hold the inaugural Billabong Asian FLOW Series this September and I would like to invite our flowriding comrades an opportunity to step up in the sport by competing against the best riders that Asia has to offer.”

The sport has indeed gained many loyal followers throughout Asia-Pacific as Wave House Sentosa welcomes champion riders from countries such as Malaysia, Australia, Japan, Korea and Saipan to form the Asia FlowRider Team.

September 3rd - Qualifiers

• Qualifiers at Wave House Sentosa
• Riders will compete on the FlowRider Double and the FlowBarrel.
• 2 Expert Men's Flowboard, 1 Expert Women's Flowboard & 1 Expert Bodyboarder will be shortlisted to form the FC Team Singapore!
• Another 1 Expert Men's Flowboard, 1 Women's Flowboard and 1 Expert Bodyboarder will be shortlisted to battle with regional venues at Wave House Sentosa during the Asian Flow Series Finals on October 1st.

October 1st - Asian Flow Series Finals

• Top riders from regional venues will battle it out at Wave House Sentosa.
• The Asian FLOW Series over-all Champions will compete in the Flow Championships in Wave House Durban, South Africa from 5th – 9th October 2011.
• The champions will consist of 1 Expert Men Flowboard, 1 Women's Expert Flowboard and 1 Expert Bodyboard.

For the uninitiated, flowriding combines moves from different board sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, skimboarding and surfing performed on two wave machines known as the Double FlowRider and the FlowBarrel.
