Silveira & Cook Win Expert Divisions at Wave Loch Launch of 2010 FLOW Tour at Waterville, Gulf Shores, AL

Gulf Shores, AL April 24TH, 2010:  Waterville USA hosted the 2010 Wave Loch FLOW (FlowRiding League of the World) Tour season opener as 100 riders turned out from 10 states to compete in Bodyboard & Flowboard divisions.  With a $1000.00 cash purse up for grabs in the Expert Divisions, the Wave Loch FLOW Tour events at Waterville are known for attracting the Nation’s top talent.

While the weather was erratic, the action wasn’t - it was intense from the very first heat with the female Bodyboard division picking up right where they left off last year with tour champ Morgan Seabert, (TX), earning the first victory of the season with Cathy Seabert, (TX) in 2nd.  The Female Flowboard division is gaining momentum with the ladies hosting a large field of talented, traveling riders.  While pushing each other to the next level, Amanda McCormick, (FL) edged out Kim Koyle, (WI) for the victory.  Chanler Lee, (AL) edged Cameron Lodge in JR Bodyboard and the 2009 JR Flowboard Champ, Christian Cook also picked up right where he left off taking 1st.   Jonathan Root earned the double victory in the Masters beating Chuck Proctor, (VA) in Bodyboard and edging South Jerseys Steve Salman in the Flowboard Division.

The Men’s Bodyboard and Flowboard were the two largest divisions of the entire event.  Out of an extremely diverse and talented group, Neil Brown (VA) from Massanutten came out on top of the podium edging out Mateo Hernandez, (TX) in the Men’s Bodyboard division.  Both rode with maneuver packed routines combining mad prone and Drop Knee skills.  In the Drop Knee Division, getting to the finals is a major accomplishment as the routines are going ballistic.  Once again, local Rhett Blake took the podium over 2nd place finisher Patrick Boyce, (TX).

The Expert Bodyboard (Pro’s) Final was stacked with unique, original styles.  In the end, standing alone at the top was local talent Christian Cook.  Christian performed action packed routines complete with multiple prone and DK maneuvers including his original “cookie cutter” DK roll, to help earn the victory over defending champ Matt Griffin, (GA).

Expert Flowboard was the event highlight.  With riders starting at semis, the level of progression from the entire division was incredible - last year, landing a kick flip could be an event winning move, this year it might not even qualify you for the finals.   Defending FLOW Tour Champ Sean Silveira, (FL) was in the house, and determined to defend his 2009 title. He once again proved that he is the man to beat in the 2010 FLOW season.  Ben Kaiser,( FL) was a close 2nd.  His first run was one of the best of the heat, but he couldn’t quite nail a solid second run that would have threatened the stranglehold Silveira has possessed in the Expert Flowboard division.

Special thanks to the sponsors, Waterville staff and Joe Warrington. Next tour stop is Massanutten, See you there.
