Wave House San Diego kicked off our Spring 2010 Flow League on Tuesday March 2nd. Eight teams competed, in the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting season. In case you're not familiar with the FlowLeague, it operates as follows: riders are assigned different levels based on their flowriding abilities. They are placed on teams of four with one rider of each level on each team. These teams then compete against one another. They are given 3 chances each to ride - the top two of which are counted toward their final scores. Riders are given both personal and team scores in addition to overall ranking. Teams are paired up against one another and receive a win or a loss depending on who receives more points at the end of the match. This league began last night and will continue every Tuesday for nine weeks.
Teams included a very animated Team 4 in addition to teams FlowFish and FlowMob. Team 5 trumped, ending the night with the overall number 1 ranking and 219.5 points. Teams 2, 5, 7 or 8 left Teams 1, 3, 4, and 6 in the dust in their respective heats. With some sweet tricks and a recently resurfaced BMax, boards and brews were flying high at the Wave House.
Team 9 judged this first round of intense competition, serving their duties to the League, but not to worry, they'll make their debut next week while another team takes the panel. The crowd was engaged and enjoyed both adult beverages and a Mission Beach sunset as the shredders shredded.
Rocking a bright yellow uniform and some flashy accessories, Team 4 member Johnny Leal seems confident in his teams victory. In an interview, when asked how he felt about this year's FlowLeague, he responded, "Team Four is the greatest." When asked why Team Four is the greatest, he elaborated by saying, "Because we are". Clearly we know how Team 4 feels about their chances and it's fairly safe to say that the other 8 teams have some stiff competition in both the charisma and style category.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates as the Spring FlowLeague 2010 continues
