Why We Travel

The Travel section of the New York Times online recently published a slideshow entitled "Why We Travel". It's a collection of 49 images from around the world of people experiencing other places and cultures, giving a small insight into why they decide to go where they go and what they do when they get there.

The first slide in the series is taken on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas and shows a guest from Canada experiencing the thrill of flowboarding for the very first time. Each image is accompanied by an extended caption. Gaetan Gariepy said this: "...there was also this real feeling of freedom. Here you are, surfing on top of a boat, and you can look out and see the sea itself, while being hundreds of feet above it. It’s kind of magical.”

He looks like he's enjoying the experience. To read the full story and see the rest of the collection of images from around the world, check it out here. Kinda makes you want to do something you've never done before in a place you've never been, doesn't it?
