2010 will mark another milestone in the world of FlowRiding. With the introduction of the IFC (International FlowRiding League of the World Championships) last October at the new Wave House Sentosa in Singapore, the sport of FlowRiding dropped its boundaries as 4 countries came together in the best FlowRiding competition ever held.
Since the IFC is geared toward barrel riding on the FlowBarrel®, many top riders of the FlowRider were not afforded the opportunity to compete. That will all change as the WFC (World FlowRider Championships) will hold competitions at various FlowRider facilities in 3 different regions of the world. USA, Europe and Asia will all participate by holding leagues and competitions as they select their best riders who will meet at Wave House Sentosa on November 4th to compete for the WFC title. Each region will select their top male and female flowboarder and their top bodyboarder.
The ultimate goal for the WFC is that the winners (top 2 male flowboarders, top female flowboarder and top bodyboarder) will form the World FlowRider Champions Team (WFC Team) and will continue on to compete against USA, Chile, South Africa, and Singapore in the 2010 IFC at Wave House Sentosa October 29-31.
The WFC qualifiers have already begun in the US as the 16 stop National FLOW Tour began last April with the finals Scheduled for August 12–14 at the Saloman Center in Ogden, Utah. The prize awarded to the USA winners will be an all expense paid trip to Singapore to compete in the WFC.
All FlowRider venues are invited to participate in the WFC by hosting FlowRiding competitions at their venue and sending their riders to compete at other regional venue qualifiers. For information on how to participate please contact your regional representative:
Europe – Piers Hampson: piers@bodyflight.co.uk
Asia – Joe Ang: joe.ang@wavehouse.com
USA and all others – Rob Chalfant: rob@waveloch.com
2010 WFC Competition Format
This category is broken down into 3 different international regions (additional regions such as Japan, China and the Netherlands may also participate)
Each region is required to organize a flow tour or a series of FlowRiding competitions that incorporate all the FlowRider venues in their respective region, such as the US FLOW Tour does. Each Region will select a 3 person team consisting of their top male flowboarder, female flowboarder and bodyboarder. The prize for winning the respective FlowRider qualifier competition is a trip to Singapore to compete in the World FlowRider Championships.
The 3 teams (9 riders, potentially more if other regions participate) will be representing their respective regions and competition will be held on the FlowRider ONLY. This competition will take place at Wave House Sentosa on the Thursday (October 28) before the IFC.
There are 2 main reasons for this sub event.
The top 2 male flowboarders, top female flowboarder and top bodyboarder of the World FlowRider Championships will form the World FlowRider Champions (WFC) Team and will compete in the IFC.
*Please note that a rider may only represent 1 team at the IFC. As an example, if a rider has qualified for the Wave House Sentosa IFC team, they will not be eligible to compete for Asia in World FlowRider Championships and vice versa.
Airfare + Accommodation
It is recommended that each region hold a fund raiser(s) as well as solicit sponsors to raise funds
for their teams travel costs.
