Young Guns - Muhammed Fariz

Muhammed Fariz , 14

Muhammad Fariz is a 14 year old young gun from sunny Singapore who started riding less than a year ago. He says he got lucky and stumbled upon Wave House with his best friend last September. He tried it once, and was hooked.

He prefers to ride stand up but has experimented with drop knee bodyboarding. His favorite music to ride to is hip hop and his flowboarding goal is to reach, and surpass, the level of his wave mentor Alfian Affandi. He normally rides twice a week but increases his ride time when he is preparing for a competition like the Flow Jam. He took the gold medal in the last one!

As for other board sports, he says he longboards occasionally but would rather ride the wave. He has only ridden at Wave House Sentosa but would love to visit both the BMax in San Diego and the DRex in Durban. Of flowboarding, he says, "Whenever I am riding the barrel, it is just me and the water. I feel all my worldly stresses are gone temporarily. When I am riding, I feel 'zen'."

He would love to travel more often, but for now, he's thrilled to ride the wave.
